Two Whammies in One Day

Ever have one of those days where  you don't even want to answer your phone for fear of more bad news? Yesterday was my day to feel that way.

Last week I went to the dermatologist to have them look at a random spot that just came up on my collarbone a couple of months ago. It had started bothering me - it was a little rough piece of skin and it was a little itchy. I had irritated it to a point that I knew I needed to have it checked out, if for nothing more than to have it snipped off to keep me from making something bigger out of it. Not very attractive!
So I found out that a lady in my church works for a dermatology clinic and made my appointment - had it taken care of and thought that was that.
Not so! I get a call yesterday telling me that the biopsy turns out to be Squamous Cell Carcinoma -  better known as skin cancer. Not something I was expecting to hear! I was already over it - out of my mind - moved on. So - reality check - make an appointment to have an excision - and now that is scheduled for Friday morning at 9:30.

THEN - a couple of hours later - I get a phone call from my doctor's office to give me the report on my mammogram that I had done last week as well. UGH! The nurse says "Mrs. Graves, the doctor noted a cyst on your left breast and it needs to be looked at more closely. We need to schedule you for a breast compression and an ultrasound. I am faxing over your orders today and you will need to call for an appointment tomorrow".

Another reality check - appointment made for March 6th at 12:30.

Do these people not know I have plans for Spring Break that I rather be concerned about? I have my flight reservations made to spend time with family in Arkansas. I need to be worrying over what to pack, if the weather is going to be cold or hot - I need to be trying to figure out how to pack things that I have bought for my grandangels since the last time I saw them at Christmas. I want to  spend a week playing and relaxing and enjoying my time - not thinking about results.

Well, bottom line is - I have to put my faith in my God. Like I told my daughter - I have to practice what I preach. I know God has great plans for me and for my life. What He has started He will be faithful to complete.

I love the words to this song:

Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!
Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!

And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us.
And if our God is with us, then what could stand against.
And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us.
And if our God is with us, then what could stand against.
What could stand against.

  2. Hey sweet lady! So sorry to hear about your "whammies. But God is good and he will see you thru this! I have had 2 skin cancers removed so I know you are worried. Both were caught early like yours and only required the removal.
I have you in my thoughts and prayers as always! Love ya - and if there is anything I can do - I'm right here!!

    XO Sylvia"
