Sunday Social

Sunday Social

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Salsa and Chips - but it has to be GOOD salsa. I am very picky.

What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Salsa and Chips - I can't stop once I start

What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?
I think Mountain Oysters are pretty weird. I only ate one LONG time ago - and really can't remember what they taste like - but never wanted to eat them again. (Bull's testicles)

What foods do you avoid at all costs?
Liver and onions
Buttermilk
Beets

What meal reminds you of your childhood?
Fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. My grandma used to make this every Sunday after church.

Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it
I make a mean cobbler. It is the simpliest of recipes - and I learned it from my dad and my ex-husband likes it so well - he asked our daughter to get the recipe so she could make it for him.

Simple Peach Cobbler
 1 c. flour (self rising)
1 c. sugar

1 stick butter
3/4 to 1 c. milk
1 lg. can sliced peaches

cinnamon and sugar mixture (optional - I just like the way it tastes on the top of the crust)

Melt butter in a 2 quart casserole dish in 375°F oven while combining flour, sugar, and baking powder. Add milk to the dry ingredients and stir until blended.

Pour the batter into the melted butter; DO NOT STIR - dribble peach juice into the mixture and add peaches. DO NOT STIR  Sprinkle top with cinnamon and sugar, if desired.

Bake 45 minutes at 375°F.

Awesome served with vanilla ice cream

  4. I LOVE chips and salsa! Lately I have been loving corn salsa. OR I like to mix regular tomato salsa with a little sour cream and eat with hint of lime chips - yum! Now I am needing a snack :)
