Me, Myself & I Linky Party

1. What is your biggest phobia?
Anything that stings. Bees, wasps, scorpions.

2. If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be and why?

The day my best friend passed away. I was able to go see her the day before she died, because we knew she wouldn't make it passed the weekend - we drove the 500 miles to see her and say goodbye - and then left. I would have stayed with her all night to be with her as she went into Jesus' arms.

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
39 - I think it still seems young but mature.

4. Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?
None - I wish I did look like someone famous (as long as they were attractive, of course! I don't want to look like Phyllis Diller or Don King!)

5. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Two out of Three Ain't Bad - Meatloaf

The Chain - Fleetwood Mac
Truly Madly Deeply - Savage Garden
Amazed - Lonestar
Seasons in the Sun -  Terry Jacks

My "secret" guitar lessons are no longer a secret

The jig is up. The cat is out of the bag.
My husband now knows my secret - after taking guitar lessons for 5 weeks, I decided to let him in on it.
Why?

Mainly because I was getting such little time to practice between lessons. My lessons are on Mondays from 4 - 4:30. I only have about 15 minutes to practice Monday - Thursday in the early mornings before going to work. He is home on Fridays - so that meant no practicing from Friday - Sunday AT ALL - we are pretty much always together. He gets home in the evenings around 5ish plus I cook - so that meant only a few minutes once I got home from work. I just wasn't able to get much time in. My instructor has been pretty impressed with how fast I am catching on and made the comment that it was a shame my husband didn't know so I  could practice any time I wanted - I was really doing a disservice to myself. Just think how much better I would be if I was practicing every day and throughout the day! I started thinking about that - plus factor in the amount of money I am spending for lessons - yea - he needed to know.

So - now he knows - and believe me - it was hilarious just letting him in on it even at this point with what I have learned. I picked up my guitar and just set down while he was busy on his computer and started picking around - then played the one song I have been working on - I went through all 7 chords I have learned - and he finally started paying attention and putting 2 and 2 together.

He is VERY excited - it has renewed his interest in playing ( which is what I hoped for!) and we are going to buy me a "better" guitar this weekend. He wants me to get a Martin D15 - so that is pretty great!

Here are some pics from the little video I had set up to catch some of his expressions during the time I was playing around - waiting for him to snap to what I was trying to tell him. The video will take forever to edit enough to make public - lol

Lyrical Monday - Changed by Rascal Flatts

Changed by Rascal Flatts

I came up out of the water

Raised my hands up to the Father

Gave it all to him that day

Felt a new wind kiss my face

Walked away, Eyes wide open

Could finally see where I was going

It didn't matter where I'd been

I'm not the same man I was then

I got off track, I made mistakes

Back slid my way into that place where souls get lost

Lines get crossed

and the pain won’t go away
I hit my knees, Now here I stand
There I was, now here I am

Here I am

Changed

I got a lot of “Hey, I’m sorry”s
The things I’ve done

Man, that was not me

I wish that I could take it all back

I just want to tell em’ that

Tell 'em that

I got off track, I made mistakes

Back slid my way into that place where souls get lost

Lines get crossed

and the pain won’t go away

I hit my knees, Now here I stand

There I was, now here I am

Here I am

I'm changed for the better

More smiles, less bitter

I'm even starting to forgive myself

I hit my knee, I’m here I stand

There I was, now here I am

Here I am, Here I am, Here I am

Changed

Yes I am

I’m changed for the better.

Thank God I'm changed

Lyrical Monday - Praise You In This Storm - Casting Crowns

Praise You In This Storm
Casting Crowns

I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus:]
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus]

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

[Chorus x2]

This has always been one of my favorite Casting Crowns songs - I have been to 3 concerts and always love to hear this one.

Lyrical Monday

Never Let Go
artist: Matt Redman

This song has a sweet meaning for me - really it is a sweet memory - every time I hear this song I can picture my 2 oldest granddaughters singing. Several years ago on one of their summer visits here to Texas - the song came on the radio in the car and they both got so excited that "their" song was on Grammie's radio. They both started singing as loud as they could and it was just the cutest thing. For the two weeks they were here - it seemed it came on the radio every time we got in the car and so we all 3 sang together each time. At that time they were 4 and 6 years old. Today they are 10 and 12 years. It will always be "our song".

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I'm caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won't turn back
I know you are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

(Chorus:)

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We'll live to know You here on the earth

(Chorus)

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

(Chorus 2x's)
