I Hear You, God

Have you ever noticed that sometimes when God is speaking to you - and you think He is planning to use you to help out another - He is really speaking to YOU to help out yourself?

This morning while I was doing my bible study - I was in Proverbs and a scripture jumped out where I immediately thought "Brad needs this!" So what do I do? I lay out my bible on HIS desk - I write on a piece of paper "Read these Scriptures - Proverbs 4:23-27."

23 Guard your heart above all else,
    for it determines the course of your life.

24 Avoid all perverse talk;
    stay away from corrupt speech.

25 Look straight ahead,
    and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
26 Mark out a straight path for your feet;
    stay on the safe path.
27 Don’t get sidetracked;
    keep your feet from following evil.

I finished up my own study and jumped in the shower - all the while feeling pretty good  smug that God gave me scriptures Brad surely needed. As I sat in front of the mirror putting on my face for the day - the scriptures kept mulling over in my head and very clearly I felt God nudging me and telling me "my words were for you this morning." I ran in there to our computer room and picked up my bible and sat back down at my desk and read them again - yep - I did need those words this morning. I have a journal that I am keeping scriptures, sayings and even words to songs that God has been laying on my heart daily - sometimes even in the night in my dreams lately - so I found the place for this passage - and all I can say is thank you, God - for showing me that it starts with ME - help ME to guard MY heart - My tongue - MY eyes - MY feet.

  8. Been there myself, and it's comforting that we serve a God that gently, lovingly, turns us around and puts us back on track. Thanks for sharing this beautiful message that I needed reminding of today.
