Mr. Owl - Do Your Thang!

We were so tired of the birds using our pool deck for their own amusement. Apparently they gather along the edges in crowds cheering on the squirrels or something. They are just like the fans at a baseball game, dropping their peanut hulls, napkins and spilled drinks to be picked up by stadium staff later. Except these little guys are leaving something that is much harder to pick up. BIRD POOP!

So - I googled how to stop this from happening or at least minimize it and apparently the number one answer is to place an owl in plain sight for the best deterrent. We hopped in our car - went to Wally World and picked up this guy for $18.95. 

This is Day 2 - and NO BIRD POOP! It is as clean as a whistle! To be honest, I am loving this Mr. Owl. He is life size and  his head moves around and he looks so real! In fact, he has scared my husband and I both a couple of times already - we are not used to seeing a creature sitting on the edge of the pool...lol We are supposed to move him around every few days so the birds won't get used to him sitting there. We also have a lot of squirrels that like to hang out as well and so far, they haven't wanted to come out and play either!

High 5 For Friday

Happy Happy Happy FRIDAY! It is crazy but we are on the countdown to the end of school now. This year flew by!

* So excited about my new James Avery charm bracelet! I got it today! Not only that, my BFF helped me get it with a 30% discount because she knows one of the managers at the JA store. So, I got a Hummingbird, Guitar, Bible & Purse. 

* I also got a new Coach handbag. It is now my fav! I love how roomy it is without being really big and heavy. 

*I have done very well eating healthy for a whole week - now lets see what the weekend brings!

*I made the decision to let my hair grow out some - and have been looking at hairstyles. My number once choice is Lauren Elizabeth's sisters "Pinterest" hairstyle - I have loved that look since the first time I saw it. (I think thousands have!)

*The pool is warming up! Not quite there yet - but in another week I think we will be in it.

High 5 For Friday

High stress week with the STAAR testing - so glad it's over!

So - on to the High 5's:

1) Hubs was on vacation all week so he got a lot done - new grass planted - fertilizing all the rose bushes, shrubs, pretty much the whole yard. The pool looks great and I can't wait for it to warm enough to start getting in. My roses are blooming like crazy now. He picked a perfect week to stay home and work in the yard.

2) I was hoping to hit the 50 mark in followers this week and I did and then some. 63 at the time of this posting. Yeaaaaa & Many thanks.

3) This is Professional Administrators Assistants Week - and I got a beautiful mug with butter pecan "mug of cake" in it and a cupcake from Somethin' Sweet - best cupcakes in town! This morning I got a Begonia plant in a pretty flower pot and my 2 sweet counselors gave me a Visa giftcard. I work with great people. :-)

4) I enjoyed a massage Wednesday after work - always makes me feel better!

5) I feel like I am really learning a lot in my guitar lessons and making great progress. I am already working on strumming and my teacher says I have "musical bones" and it is coming naturally. That made me feel pretty good! My son is self taught and really good with the guitar. My daughter has played clarinet since her elementary years and even received a college scholarship - my oldest granddaughter is playing the clarinet (6th grade) So now I like to say I am the one who gave them their musical talent...ha! Serioulsy - I am thanking God for helping me learn this so quickly. My prayer has been that this gift I know He has placed in me will shine and I can praise him through my music.

OOTD Tuesday

I love the fact that Spring is in the air and it is time for bare legs - even though I have NO tan at all - doesn't seem to bother me too much any more! I spent year after year going to tanning bed, then bought my own tanning bed about 10 years ago only to sell it after putting in a pool 5 years ago.  Now since I hit the big 50 - (and beyond - I will be 52 this summer) I don't mind so much the "fair skin" look.
