All in one place

These are all the Reborn Baby Dolls I have made so far. The names under them are the names of the sculpt, not the names of the babies. When adopted, they go home with a blanket, several outfits, socks, magnetic paci, hair accessories for girls and a few surprises. Any doll can be made into boy or girl, they are not anatomically correct babies, they have doe suede bodies that are filled with fine glass beads and polyfil. The limbs are also filled with glass beads and polyfil and capped off before attaching to the body. I use Genesis paints and paint in layers and then the babies are baked numerous times to cure the paint. They have a magnet inside the head for a paci and I can put on in the top of the head for a magnetic barrette. Sleeping babies have rooted eyelashes and awake babies have eyelashes glued in. At this time I am only making/selling bald babies, at least until I perfect my rooting for hair. I am working on it!
Most of the clothing is brand new and some are gently worn - clean and in excellent condition. All babies will have at least one new outfit. I am very generous with the extras and like to wrap them individually so the box opening is a fun experience. Crochet baby blankets are handmade by me and my mother.
I absolutely love watching them come to life.

I will be adding to this blog post as I go...

Paisley Grace Has Arrived!

I love her! She is just so cute and was worth the long wait. She is chunky - perfect weight, perfect feel about her - she actually will set up straight in your hand without flopping over. Her eyes are beautiful and she looks like she has a slight little grin about her. I couldn't be more happy with her.
The unboxing was nice - nothing extra with her - exactly what was promised. Her tutu which was too too cute - her paci, a beautiful blanket and leg warmers, hat - all hand crocheted and pretty pink.

She is my first "awake" Reborn baby and I wasn't sure how I would like one that has the eyes open all the time - but I have to say - I love it. It is nice having both kinds.

Here is a sweet pictures of Miss Paisley Grace.

I have a lot of clothing that fits her perfectly - so I didn't have to buy anything special for her - but of course I love to baby shop - so she will be getting new things regularly, I am sure.

Reborn Artist - That's Me!

I just completed my very first Reborn - from a kit I bought from Bountiful Baby .

I pretty much thought I would have to do 5 or 6 before I could consider myself an "artist".

However, after completing my first one - I am calling it now! HA! Honestly, I think I did a pretty good job on her AND comparing her to many that I see for sale on ebay, photos on Instagram and just pictures in the Reborn Community, in general - I think I did REALLY good! (insert another HA!)

I started her June 13th and completed her June 22nd. She is the Gemma Kit from BB. I have not tried rooting hair yet, but that is my next thing to do. I do have another half kit on the way which will be an awake baby, so that means I will doing the eyes. I think I can. I think I can.

So ---until I have mastered those 2 things, I guess I am not an "official" Reborn artist, but I am on my way!

I am so ready to start another one!

Reborns: With or Without Hair

So now I have had Reborn babies with hair and without. The first one with hair was Lucy who had the wild frizzy kinky curls and no, I didn't like them at all. Too much upkeep.

Benjamin has painted hair and I do love it. It looks pretty natural.

Sally Jane is totally bald and  I think that is just cute.

Paisley Grace will be bald if she ever gets here!

And now I have Jackson - he came with wild  blonde hair and I cropped it short so he is close to bald.

Honestly - I prefer no hair at all or painted on hair. Jackson's is ok - now that it is short. It looks more natural.

I have seen so many Reborns with pitiful hair but I have seen some that really look good. If an artist knows what they are doing when rooting hair and they use the appropriate type of hair then it most likely will look natural. These artist that use the frizzy stuff (I have no idea what it is) it just looks silly, in my opinion.
I have seen some that have the little curl at the top like a kewpie doll and those are truly sweet looking. I have seen some that are all nice and even and swirl around on the crown and those look adorable. But the ones that look like Chuckie - just ew!

So - my preference would still have to be no hair. It is just easier, neater and most of the time - more realistic.

Reborn Update On Very Bad & Disappointing Unboxing

I e-mailed  back and forth with the seller  - because, originally, I wanted a refund, knowing, of course, that she wasn't going to agree since she has a no refund policy. I was still going to try or at the very least take it up with eBay.
She was offended that I even suggested that the reborn was anything less than what he should be - telling me that she did not use sand, she used a suitable grade of glass beads and he was a good weight. Well, I disagreed and I had the video to prove all the problems. I asked her if she would like to view the video - and of course she never replied.
Now, this lady claims to be a professional. I can't imagine not having enough pride in my work that I wouldn't do a little more for the presentation. Can you? Cramming him into a box with no protection whatsoever. I believe the heat caused the problems with the hard packing in the body.

I boxed the reborn in the same box he came in - I didn't close up the box, just sat it in the closet - but I didn't leave him there long - I went back for him and decided to try to work with him. He got the best massage in the history of mankind and I managed to break up the "glass beads" (I still say it is sand) enough to where I could distribute them throughout the torso. At least the big chunk in the diaper area was gone. His head is still packed full and hard - I have done every thing I know to loosen it up but it is just so heavy. His arms and legs lay funny - because they are also packed. There is no give at all in the limbs. My other 2 Reborns, plus the one I sold, were not like this at all. There limbs are more supple and have plenty of give. The weight is evenly proportioned. Pretty much the only thing to do is redo him but I am not brave enough just yet to try that. Since I am just now working on my first one maybe after I have put this one together I will comfortable enough to try to fix him. I really don't even think the limbs go with that body.

But - after working on him which includes the body work - I trimmed his hair short because it was a hot mess - bald spots galore and several different lengths. Now it is cropped short and look more like a newborn. His eyelashes were also way off - one side very long and the other really weird shaped. Now they are all even. Other than that - he has a very cute face. I actually love his little face.

So - he now has a name -- and he is staying. I haven't even told the seller about any of this - I hope she happens on my Youtube Video and sees it for herself. I did not call her out by name - but she will know if she sees it. No doubt.

His name is JACKSON LANE. He is 5 pounds (most of that is in his head..LOL) and 20 inches long.
We now have Benjamin Wyatt, Sally Jane, Jackson Lane and still waiting on little sister, Paisley Grace - this will round out our 2 boys and 2 girls.

The one I am making - I am not sure if it is a boy or girl yet or what will become of her. Time will tell~

Reborn: Very Bad & Disappointing Unboxing

I had a bad feeling from the moment I realized I had been the highest bidder on ebay for this Reborn baby. From the seller having poor communication to the horribly shipped box and then the pitifully done doll. Just not a happy camper!

Welcoming Sally Jane

Sally Jane is actually the very first Reborn baby that I ordered - but Benjamin was already created so he came home first. It took Sally quite a while.
She arrived today and I was surprised just how small and delicate she is. I have so many clothes that are not going to fit her. The first dress she is wearing is a newborn. 0 - 3 months are too big! I have a lot of 3 - 6 months that certainly won't fit. I have several pairs of shoes and booties that will not fit, either. Oh well - she is adorbs!
I am hoping Paisley will be a little bigger so maybe she can wear them. We will be looking for NB clothes this weekend! Next to Benjamin, she looks close to the same size, but he is a little heavier by about a pound, at least.
Don't they look precious together?

I just love her coloring. Just the perfect amount of blushing. Benjamin is a lot darker complected than her.

Sally Jane is a Liam sculpt by Marissa May.
