Reborns: With or Without Hair

So now I have had Reborn babies with hair and without. The first one with hair was Lucy who had the wild frizzy kinky curls and no, I didn't like them at all. Too much upkeep.

Benjamin has painted hair and I do love it. It looks pretty natural.

Sally Jane is totally bald and  I think that is just cute.

Paisley Grace will be bald if she ever gets here!

And now I have Jackson - he came with wild  blonde hair and I cropped it short so he is close to bald.

Honestly - I prefer no hair at all or painted on hair. Jackson's is ok - now that it is short. It looks more natural.

I have seen so many Reborns with pitiful hair but I have seen some that really look good. If an artist knows what they are doing when rooting hair and they use the appropriate type of hair then it most likely will look natural. These artist that use the frizzy stuff (I have no idea what it is) it just looks silly, in my opinion.
I have seen some that have the little curl at the top like a kewpie doll and those are truly sweet looking. I have seen some that are all nice and even and swirl around on the crown and those look adorable. But the ones that look like Chuckie - just ew!

So - my preference would still have to be no hair. It is just easier, neater and most of the time - more realistic.

My First Reborn Kit has Arrived!!

I am so excited! My first Reborn kit is here and it has every thing I need to reborn my very first baby. I am nervous to even get started. It has so much with it. I bought my convection oven today. (you have to bake the paints to set so the paint cures).

I have read through the notebook that was sent with the kit and there is also a DVD to watch. I have already watched several videos on Youtube, as well.

My husband made a drying rack out of PVC for me to allow the limbs/head to dry.

I haven't decided if they will be a boy or girl as of yet...or if I will keep them or not - I would say yes, because it will be my first attempt. If I am satisfied with my work, then I will jump right into another for sale.

I am so excited!!
This is everything I need to bring one Reborn baby to life!

Brotherly~Sisterly Love

They are so much fun to dress up and pose together for photos. When Paisley Grace gets here it will be triple the fun! I am going to start on my first Reborn kit next week - I haven't decided if it will be a boy or a girl or if I am even keeping them or not - if I do a really good job, I may not be able to give them up, but if I don't do well enough to make a nice profit, then no point in selling.

Benjamin is a chunk compared to Sally Jane.
She is so petite~

They just look so stinkin' cute together!

Welcoming Sally Jane

Sally Jane is actually the very first Reborn baby that I ordered - but Benjamin was already created so he came home first. It took Sally quite a while.
She arrived today and I was surprised just how small and delicate she is. I have so many clothes that are not going to fit her. The first dress she is wearing is a newborn. 0 - 3 months are too big! I have a lot of 3 - 6 months that certainly won't fit. I have several pairs of shoes and booties that will not fit, either. Oh well - she is adorbs!
I am hoping Paisley will be a little bigger so maybe she can wear them. We will be looking for NB clothes this weekend! Next to Benjamin, she looks close to the same size, but he is a little heavier by about a pound, at least.
Don't they look precious together?

I just love her coloring. Just the perfect amount of blushing. Benjamin is a lot darker complected than her.

Sally Jane is a Liam sculpt by Marissa May.

My First Reborn Surprise Shower Gift Box Is Ready to Ship

I was so excited to be able to make up my first surprise gift box! This one is for a Reborn baby boy - and his name happens to be Tucker - the same name as my grandson. I didn't have time to personalize anything because she needed it shipped right away.

So - what am I surprise her with?

An adorable pants and onesie set with zoo animals

A Suzy's Zoo onesie

A Magnetic Pacifier

Baby mittens

Baby knit cap

3 pair pack of Old Navy socks

Longhorns baby bib (she is in Dallas)

A handmade blank card (so she can use if she wants)

A wire flex bangle charm bracelet for mom - with baby boy, blocks & bottle charms

Added together it is a $31 package total - and every thing is wrapped in cute Noah's Ark  wrapping paper.

I hope she likes every thing!

Reborn Wardrobe Before & After

This pie safe is about 120 years old. It was in its natural state for all of those years with doors that had chicken wire. It has held Blue Willow dishes, pictures and knick knacks over the last 30 years. I painted it about 2 years ago this pretty blue. I took the doors off about a year ago and I made those into wall picture hangers.

Now I've decided to paint it gray, I made the little curtains and it is my Reborn wardrobe. I removed the top shelf to add a curtain rod to hang little clothes on. I recovered the other 2 shelves. I think it turned out just too cute for words. (that is a little scentsy "nursery" scent bag hanging up - it smells just like baby powder)

The Reborn Nursery Tour

These are some of the pictures from the nursery tour but the video is better, of course.

The white portable crib is from Jet.com which I ordered online and it was delivered in 4 days. Very easy to put together and the perfect size for the 3 newborns I will have.

I added a flannel sheet for the crib and I bought some really cute fabric - one is a giraffe print and the other is a bold print that matches the pillow in the crib. I plan to make a dust ruffle and comforter from those.

The wardrobe for their clothes was a pie safe (about 120 - 130 years old) and I took the chicken wire doors off for another project, made the curtains and repainted it from blue to gray. I recovered the shelves and added a hanging rod for their clothes. The 2 wicker baskets are perfect for sleepers and tee shirts.

BEFORE

AFTER
I think it turned out really cute.

We also repainted the chest that the TV is on and I plan to put baby blankets and bigger items in it.

Call It A Change of Reborn Heart

Well, Lucy Claire is going to go on eBay. I knew there was a possibility when I bought her that I wouldn't want a bigger Reborn and I should have gone with my gut feeling. She is a cutie pie but she  is just so darn heavy! You wouldn't think 9 pounds would be that heavy - but yes, it is. Benjamin is 5 pounds, Sally Jane will be 5 pounds and I have decided on another sweetie and her name is Paisley.  I haven't decided on her middle name yet.

I said all along if I got a really good deal on a Reborn at any time that I would buy them and resell at some point. I didn't realize it would be this quick, tho.

Anyway, hopefully she has someone out there that is just aching for one just her size and this will be there lucky moment. I thought it was for me, but I guess not. :-(

She will come with several outfits, magnetic paci, headbands, receiving blanket, socks, shoes and I am going to add in a couple of surprise gifts. So if you are interested or know someone who might be - just head on over to the eBay auction and put a bid in for her.

Lucy Claire Has Arrived!

She's here!  Lucy Claire arrived today in a huge heavy box filled with cute clothes, headbands, shoes, blanket, bracelets, paci and I couldn't be more thrilled.

In her original photos she looked like she had kinky reddish blonde hair, but it is pretty wild in real life and very blonde. We will have to do something with that hair! You can see her original pictures here .
I have already changed her into something that I bought for her. She is wearing her little red bracelet which was sent with her - she also has a blue one. Very cute! She has a pretty big wardrobe since she came with so much and I had already shopped for her. These photos show what she arrived with.

She is very much lighter skin than Benjamin, but, remember, Benjamin is a boo boo Reborn, so his skin coloring is a little "off".
You can see the difference is size. She is 9 pounds and he is 5 1/2. He is 19 inches long and she is 23 but he looks much smaller to me. He looks like the newborn he is and she is more around 6 months old.
She is a hefty little heifer!
I e-mailed with the lady who made her and she told me all I had to do was spritz her hair with water and the curls would jump back in, which I did and they did. Much cuter.

Unexpected Reborn...Lucy Claire

After getting Benjamin Wyatt and having Sally Jane on the way (she is a custom reborn so she takes a few weeks) I was not planning on another one for awhile.  However, a toddler girl just sort of fell in my lap.  Kinda sorta on purpose, that is.

I shall explain...

I am a huge eBayer. I buy and sell all the time. Actually that is how I am paying for my newly acquired Reborn obsession/collection. Every penny spent so far has come from my selling on eBay. I may find clearance items for 90% off and then resale at a decent price so it's a win/win for me and the buyer. A lot of people do this and for many it is their only income. I do it for play money.

Anyway, I digress...So, as I was sifting through cute clothes and shoes for Benjamin and Sally Jane I somehow ended up back on the Reborn babies. I knew someday I would want a toddler, but really planned to wait awhile.  I came across this cutie and her hair just caught my eye. I read her description and was just amazed at everything the artist was sending with her. Her price was already a very fair price. Especially with her coming with a huge wardrobe! She was just completed 2 weeks ago and I read over and over to make sure I wasn't missing anything since she was less expensive than my custom baby. But the best part was "Best Offer" added to the deal. I clicked out of it and left my computer for awhile but then decided I would add "watch" to it so I could see if she sold over night. Then I thought, well, it won't hurt to put in an offer and I offered $45 less than she was asking and went to bed. I seriously believed she would come back with a counter offer of maye $10 less at most. But I thought if she accepted my offer then it was "meant to be".
Well, SHE ACCEPTED MY OFFER! I was truly surprised.

Her name is Lucy Claire.

She will be here in just a few days as she is coming from Washington.  She is 9 pounds and 23 inches long. She will seem heavy after my 5 pound baby boy. She comes with all the clothes in these pictures plus several more outfits, headbands,  blanket and paci.

I am pretty excited! Now...I have to go break the news to my husband. He is still getting over the shock of the first one. Lol
